Andrew Long
Pastor

Andrew Long is a native of Northern Maryland, where he graduated with a degree in music from Towson University and The Peabody Conservatory. After spending several years as a church organist and choir director, Andrew sensed a call to ordained ministry in the PC(USA). In 2009, Andrew enrolled at Princeton Theological Seminary and graduated in 2012 with a Master of Divinity degree with concentrations in preaching, pastoral care, and worship.

From 2012 to 2021 Andrew served as Pastor of The First Presbyterian Church of Enid, OK. Andrew was drawn to the congregation in Enid because they were recovering from a terrible church split and were in need of a pastor with specific skills in preaching, pastoral care, and worship. In his time in Enid, Andrew fostered in the congregation a better sense of what it means to be Reformed and Presbyterian, and led them in many initiatives of outreach and mission in the community and beyond. One of Andrew’s greatest achievements in Enid was connecting the church with other churches and non-profits in town to better coordinate care for the community.

Sensing God’s call to something new, Andrew began searching for a new call in early 2021 and called as Pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Watertown, NY, in July of 2021. Andrew was drawn to FPC Watertown because of its rich and diverse worship life, the church’s many ministries in the community, and the congregation’s broad view of worldwide missions. Andrew also found at FPC Watertown a deep desire to better understand the place of the church in modern society, as well as an interest in bringing other disciples to bear on faith such a sociology, psychology, and human development.

Andrew has been married to Katie Burgoon Long since 2015 and they have a four-year-old, Theo. Together they enjoy exploring the North Country, picking apples, and wearing costumes even when it isn’t Halloween. The Longs have two dogs, Shadow and Tiny, and several outdoor inflatable decorations for every holiday on the calendar. On moving to Watertown, the Longs purchased a house built in 1907 and they are enjoying putting their own touch on their home. Katie is a non-profit executive and together Andrew and Katie share a passion for community development and improving the quality of life wherever they call home.
